Who We Are & What We Do

We are a team of community members, public health nurses, and clinicians focused on supporting the resilience of transgender and gender diverse people. Our collaboration began in 2018 and was centered in Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. We have since expanded our home base to include Atlanta, GA, and work with people across the United States.

Description of Company Activities

1. Research Initiatives: TWT conducts cutting-edge research focused on the health and well-being of TGD communities. Our studies address topics such as polyvictimization, mental health, healthcare access, and the impact of structural discrimination. We employ a multi-method and mixed method approach, including quantitative and qualitative research, to inform evidence-based interventions and policies.

2. Educational Programs: We develop and deliver comprehensive educational programs for healthcare professionals, educators, and community members. Our curriculum includes modules on LGBTQI+ health, cultural competency, and affirming care practices. Through workshops, webinars, and online courses, we aim to enhance the knowledge and skills of those working with TGD individuals.

3. Community Engagement: TWT actively collaborates with community partners, including advocacy groups, healthcare providers, and academic institutions, to ensure our work is grounded in the lived experiences of TGD individuals. We facilitate community advisory boards, focus groups, and participatory research projects to foster mutual learning and co-creation of solutions.

4. Policy Advocacy: We advocate for policies that promote health equity and protect the rights of TGD people. Our team engages with policymakers, provides expert testimony, and participates in coalitions to advance legislative and regulatory changes. We also produce policy briefs, reports, and white papers to inform public discourse and decision-making.

5. Consulting Services: TWT offers consulting services to organizations seeking to improve their practices and policies related to TGD health. Our experts provide guidance on program development, organizational assessments, and strategic planning to create inclusive and affirming environments.

6. Knowledge Dissemination: We are committed to sharing our research findings and best practices widely. TWT publishes peer-reviewed articles, produces reports, and presents at conferences to contribute to the global dialogue on TGD health. We also maintain a robust online presence, including a blog and social media channels, to engage with a broader audience.

Through these activities, we aim to drive systemic change and empower TGD individuals to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
